The fifth Jumla-Rara Ultra Marathon is going to be organised on April 13.

At a news conference organised by Karnali Sports Club, Jumla, here on Monday, Club Chairperson Saroj Shahi said the marathon from Khalanga bazaar, the district headquarter of Jumla, to Rara lake of Mugu would be organised on April 13.

Runners from home and abroad would participate in 49-kilometer marathon. An arrangement of online application has been made for the participation.

The marathon aims to promote trekking route leading Rara lake of Mugu from Jumla as well as to help make renown Karnali Province through the medium of sports.

The marathon starting from Khalanga, which lies at an altitude of 2,300 meters above the sea level, will conclude after reaching Rara lake via Danphe pass Chuchchremara pass, said Shahi. Rara lake is located at an altitude of 2,890 meters above the sea level. The organiser has expected participations of more than 1,000 runners in the race.

The winner towards 49-kilometer ultra-marathon will get Rs 100,000 prize, first runner-up Rs 75,000 and second runner-up Rs 50,000.

The application fee has been determined at Rs 14,500 for SAARC runners, Rs 16,000 for runners of other countries and Rs 7,000 for Nepali runners. The ultra-marathon would be organised under various categories.
