KATHMANDU, MARCH 2

The 9th Edition of its Annual Nepal-Pakistan Friendship Embassy T20 Cricket Tournament was inaugurated at the Pakistan Embassy Ground, in Kathmandu, today.

The competition was jointly inaugurated by Ambassador of Pakistan, Abrar Hussain Hashmi, Binaya Raj Pandey, former President of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and Ujjal Raj Bhandary, Deputy CEO of Himalayan Bank Limited.

Addressing the ceremony, Binaya Raj Pandey and Ujjal Raj Bhandary appreciated the Embassy for successfully organizing the event every year since 2014. They highlighted the potential of cricket and sports in bringing the youth of two countries together. They also lauded the efforts of Pakistan for promoting sports and education to enhance healthy activities amongst youth.

In his remarks, Pakistani Ambassador, Abrar H Hashmi said that the cricket is not just a sport, but it also serves as a platform to bring people together and fosters spirit of camaraderie and teamwork. He further stated that this event would contribute to further deepening the friendly ties between the two countries especially amongst youth. Ambassador thanked the distinguished guests, organising committee and the Himalayan Bank Limited for their support in organizing the event.

This year twelve cricket teams are participating in the nine-days event. The Tournament is scheduled to conclude on 10 March 2024. The event will be streamed live on Nepalese channel "Mithila Nepal TV".
