Adhikari awarded

KATHMANDU: National volleyball player Kripa Adhikari was awarded with Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Award for her excellent results in SLC and her contribution in the sport here on Saturday. Member Secretary of National Sports Council Keshab Bista, President of the Trust Ranjan Khadka and General Secretary of Nepal Volleyball Association Jitendra Bahadur Chand felicitated Adhikari with Rs 15,000. President Khadka said the reward would motivate Adhikari to perform better in future. Adhikari was member of Nepal national team that won silver medal in the South Asian Volleyball Championship held in Kathmandu last Year.

Judokas to depart

KATHMANDU: A three-member Judo team is on Sunday leaving for Switzerland to participate in the Youth Judo Training Camp slated for July 19-25. Kiran Gadel and Manita Shrestha will participate in the training camp for the players below 18 years, while coach Dharma Kumar Shrestha will accompany the players to Switzerland. Minister for Youth and Sports Purushottam Paudel, NSC Member Secretary Keshab Bista and President of Nepal Judo Association Deepak Harsha Bajracharya bade farewell to the team.

KATHMANDU: Shree Dewa and Saipal Academy began the first HISS Play-off Basketball Championship with wins here on Saturday. Shree Dewa beat hosts Innovative 32-22 riding on 14 points from Jyoti Gurung, while Jenisha Singh’s 25 points helped Saipal edge past HIMS 30-28. A total of four teams are competing in the tournament.
