Agrawal claims Gokarna Monthly Medal title

Kishan Agrawal won the fifth edition title of the Surya Nepal Gokarna Monthly Medal here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

Played under stableford ¾ handicap format, the 18-handicap amateur golfer produced the three-under 69 card to finish first in nett category. Tendi Sherpa came second with two-under 70, while Gopal Chitrakar was third on count back after he was tied with Maj Ajay Dhyani and Babu Sherpa at one-under 71.

Prithivi Malla won the gross section award with the score of five-over 77, while Tenzing Sherpa claimed the junior category title with the score of five-under 67. In all, 37 players took part in the tournament organised by Gokarna Golf Club under the sponsorship of Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd. Gokarna Golf Club President Suhrid Ghimire handed over the prizes to the winners.

After the fifth edition, Agrawal moved atop the nett section leaderboard with 184 points, while Sanjay Poudel and SSP Rajendra Shrestha shared the second position with 126 points. Jabbor Kayumov was fourth at 116, ahead of Jie Tang (112). In gross section, Malla led the table with 300 points, while SSP Shrestha and Tendi Sherpa were tied for second on 230 points. Gopal Chitrakar was fourth at 144, while Brian Fawcett and Vijay Einhaus shared the fifth position with 100 points.

Likewise, Sam Doublard and Mayank Dahal shared the lead in the junior section, while Shreeyog Basnyat was third with 200. Aditi Ghimire (140 and Tenzing Tsering (100) were fourth and fifth respectively.

A total of 10 Monthly Medal rounds will be held through December, with top 30 in nett, 10 in gross and five players in junior section making it to the two-legged finals, which will be played in January and February next year.
