VIENNA: Austria goalkeeper Robert Almer will miss the team’s friendly against Switzerland in November after partly tearing a ligament in his left knee.

His club Austria Vienna said Almer picked up the injury in Sunday’s domestic league match and won’t play again before the league’s winter break from mid-December until February.

In the club’s statement, Almer is quoted as saying “this diagnosis is obviously bitter for me but I am also in a positive mood.

Maybe I have been lucky the ligament hasn’t been fully ripped.”
