Panthi hat-trick guides Chauraha to victory

Aman Panthi took a hat-trick as Chauraha defeated Campus Road by four wickets in the Sagarmatha Cement Dhangadhi Cricket League-3 here at the SSP grounds today.

Batting first after winning the toss, Campus Road were bowled out for 71 in 20 overs before Chauraha raced to 72-6 in 15.2 overs. Campus Road made a disastrous start losing opener Roman Bam for a naught in the second ball of the innings before Parash Rawal (three) and Saroj Ayer (eight) fell in the space of two runs to be 14-3 in 5.4 overs.

Panthi then claimed three wickets in as many balls to reduce Campus Road to 20-6. Panthi first had Chandra Saud caught by Yam Karki (naught) in the third ball of the eighth over before the dismissing Lokesh Bam, caught by Dipesh Chand, in the next ball and then bowled Lalit Singh Bhandari to complete the hat-trick.

Rajan Serchan top scored for Campus Road with 23 off 35 balls that included two fours and a six, while Santosh Bhatt struck three fours in his 30-ball 22. Man-of-the-match Panthi returned with 3-13 from four overs, while Yogendra Singh Karki and Sonu Tamang took two wickets each. Kiran Kumar Thagunna and Bhuwan Karki pocketed one wicket apiece.

In reply, Chauraha made a slow start and overcame early jitters to register a comfortable victory. They were 14-2 in three overs but opener Bipin Rawal stayed firm and top scored with 24 off 32 balls hitting three fours. Dipendra Thapa scored 23 off 28 that included three boundaries. Santosh Bhatt claimed 3-8 off four overs, while Lalit Singh Bhandari claimed 2-21 and Shivraj Ayer pocketed one wicket for Campus Road.

In another match, Santoshi Tole defeated Attariya by 36 runs. Batting first, Santoshi Tole scored 148-6 in 20 overs before packing Attariya for 112 runs in 19.5 overs. Man-of-the-match Sunil Dhamala scored a quick fire 59 off 44 balls that included nine fours and a six, while Amit Shanu remained unbeaten on 15 off nine balls including a four and a six.

Naresh Budhayer hit a four and a six in his nine-ball 14, while Roshan Adhikari hit three sixes in his three-ball 12. Bijay Rana and Yuvraj Thapa scored 10 runs each. Gyanendra Kunwar took 2-15, while Mehboob Alam and Prem Tamang took one wicket each for Attariya.

In reply, opener Surendra Chand and Mehboob Alam scored 26 runs each, while Hikmat Setty (16) and Gyanendra Kunwar (11) were the other batsmen to contribute in double digits. Alam struck four fours and a six in his 14-ball knock, while Chand hit three boundaries and a six. Tekendra Bohara was he pick of the Santoshi Tole bowlers taking 3-15, while Prakash Karki claimed 3-24 and Amit Budha pocketed two wicket.
