ANFA announces Women’s National Football League

The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) today announced the dates of the Women’s National League Football Tournament.
A total of eight teams — three departmental sides and five regional teams — will take part in the tournament to be held at the ANFA Complex grounds from April 17-28, informed ANFA in a release. The teams have been divided into two pools with top two each making it to the Super League.
Defending champions Nepal Police Club are in Group A along with Central Region, Eastern Region and Mid-western Region, while Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal APF Club, Western Region and Far-western Region are in Group B. NPC and TAC were seeded as top two teams in their respective groups in the draw, informed ANFA.
After the group stage matches, top two teams will make it to the Super League. The four teams will then play in round-robin format and the side accumulating highest points will win the title. A total of 18 matches will be played in the tournament.
The winners will receive Rs 200,000, while the runners-up will get Rs 100,000. The five best individuals — goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, striker and coach — will be awarded with Rs 25,000 each.
Out of the total estimated budget of Rs 2.55 million, the five regional teams will be provided with Rs 68,000 apiece as the preparation money for the tournament.
