The first executive committee meeting decides to recall 10 players in the national team

LALITPUR, JUNE 22

The first meeting of the All Nepal Football Association's newly-elected executive committee today appointed Kiran Rai and Rabindra Joshi as General Secretary and Treasurer respectively.

The meeting was held after the sworn-in ceremony of 19 officials who were elected on Monday. Election committee chief Shree Ram Dawadi administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly-elected officials.

The 21st elective congress of ANFA elected Pankaj Nembang as the new president of the football governing body, while Bir Bahadur Khadka was elected as senior vice-president.

Likewise, Dawa Kunga Lama, Birat Jung Shahi, Deepak Khatiwada and Dirgha Bahadur KC were elected as vice-presidents.

Also, Rabindra Chand, Manish Joshi, Anil Malla, Maniraj Bista, Bhojraj Shahi, Tikaram Lama, Purushottam Thapa, Bharat Budh Thapa, Mahendra Chhetry, Ramesh Byanjankar and Bijay Narayan Shrestha were elected as members along with Sarila Shrestha and Pema Dolma. As four candidates were tied on 39 votes, two members will be elected by the extraordinary congress later.

In the first meeting held minutes after assuming his office at the ANFA Complex, Nembang proposed Kiran Rai as General Secretary and Rabindra Joshi as Treasurer for four years. And the meeting approved the proposal unanimously.

According to the ANFA, the meeting also decided to appoint Nabin Pande as International Relations Head.

Rai, elected as member in the previous committee under Karma Tshiring Sherpa, had resigned from the post of spokesperson after head coach Abdullah Almutairi accused the then senior vice-president Nembang of not allowing him to work freely, while Joshi was treasurer in the previous committee.

Pande was International Relations Head under Sherpa but he too resigned after rift with the president.

The meeting also decided to recall the 10 national team players who were ousted by Almutairi and directed the ANFA Secretariat to coordinate with head coach and Qatar FA in implementing the report submitted by the probe committee. The committee had suggested the ANFA to find the replacement of Almutairi after the Asian Cup Qualifiers.

The ANFA Executive Committee meeting also decided to issue whitepaper regarding the financial and administrative situation of the association, and nominated New Road Team President Sundar Narshing Joshi as Nepal's candidate for the post of vice-president of South Asian Football Federation.

Joshi, the lone vice-president candidate from Nembang panel to lose in ANFA's elections on Monday, will contest in SAFF elections to be held in Dhaka on July 2.
