ANFA receives footballs, jerseys for Nepal earthquake-hit kids
KATHMANDU: Kidz Love Soccer, an organisation based in California USA that works for personality development through football, donated football equipment to the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) meant for the kids affected by the devastating Nepal earthquake in April and May last year.
Sita Ram Maskey -- former vice president of the Nepal Olympic Committee and National Sports Council -- on behalf of Kidz Love Soccer, donated the equipment to ANFA Acting President Narendra Shrestha at the ANFA Complex on Tuesday, ANFA said in a statement today.
ANFA said it will distribute the equipment to the target group in the days to come.
“Our hope is that the kids will be able to entertain themselves and have a positive medium through which to interact with their friends during a time when the country and their families are experiencing such hardship," ANFA quoted Dikesh Maskey, Regional Manager, Penisula, as saying in a letter sent to it.
"Our team at Kidz Love Soccer would like to be a part of their development, helping Nepalese children on their way to a healthier and brighter future. I myself was a child who grew up in Nepal and know that playing soccer with my friends and classmates had an enormous positive impact on my own life by keeping me out of trouble and focusing my energy on being active, healthy and the best player that I could be.”
The donation by the organisation is first step toward the possible collaboration that it intends to make with ANFA.
The donated equipment include 200 balls, 200 jerseys, 20 ball pumps, 50 ball inflation needles and 20 mesh bags.
