Subba clinches three gold medals

Lalitpur, June 23

Anubhav Subba won three gold medals in the Age-group and Open Swimming Championship organised by Nepal Swimming Association to mark the Olympic Day, here at the International Swimming Complex today.

Subba claimed gold medals in the men’s 50m butterfly, backstroke and freestyle events.

Subba took 29 seconds to win the butterfly event, while Devesh Manandhar and Maulik Maharjan came second and third respectively. Subba then clocked 34.54 seconds in the backstroke finishing ahead of Nitesh Manandhar and Devesh Manandhar.

Subba completed the hat-trick of gold medals when he won the 50m freestyle in 27.53 seconds, while Devesh Manandhar and Subham Shrestha bagged second and third positions respectively. Likewise, Kiran Karki won gold in the 50m breaststroke with the timing of 34.16 seconds, while Shuvam Shrestha and Baidagya Raj Joshi won silver and bronze respectively.

In women’s category, Ayushma Tuladhar won freestyle gold medal in 32.31 seconds, while Duwana Lama and Anusiya Tandukar won silver and bronze respectively. Samira Thapa clocked 46.16 seconds to win the 50m backstroke gold, ahead of Saumya Dhakal and Nitisha Basnet. Duwana Lama won 50m breaststroke category gold with timing of 40.25sec, while Upasti Maharjan and Sonira Bista claimed silver and bronze respectively.

Nepal Olympic Committee President Jeevan Ram Shrestha among others handed over prizes to the winners.
