APF, Three Star win

Kathmandu, September 9:

Jibesh Pandey scored the winner in the injury time as Gyanendra Armed Police Force (APF) Club defeated New Road Team 2-1 and Nabil Three Star Club thumped Mahabir Club 5-2 in the Martyrs’ Memorial San Miguel ‘A’ Division League. Mani Pandit put the APF ahead in the 18th minute when he scored an easy goal on Pandey’s pass. NRT levelled the scores in the 69th through a penalty, which they earned after APF’s Kamal Bista brought down Yugal Kishor Rai inside the box. Subash Rai converted the spot kick.

In the other match, Surendra Tamang scored a hat-trick and Bijay Gurung and Anil Gurung got one each in Nabil Three Star’s 5-2 win over Mahabir. Surendra opened the scoring in the 26th minute on Anil Gurung’s pass.

He added another in the 56th minute, again assisted by Anil. Mahabir pulled one back in the 57th when Som Lama’s attempt kissed the net deflecting TSC defender Lok Bandhu Gurung. Surendra’s third came through a spot kick, which TSC earned after Roshan Budhathoki fouled Bijay inside the penalty area in the 59th minute. Bijay made it 4-1 in the 65th on Surendra’s pass.

Som Lama was spectacular in the 68th minute, when he shocked Three Star goalkeeper Upendra Man Singh with a powerful shot from 20 yards. Anil Gurung sealed the victory in the 84th minute following Santosh Shrestha’s pass inside the six-yard box.
