BARA: African Roots Association defeated hosts Nava Janajagriti Youth Club 2-1 in extra time to advance to the final of the 11th Jitpur Simara Gold Cup here at the Simara Stadium on Wednesday. Njimi and Ebode scored one each for the ARA, while Sakal Regmi netted for the hosts.

The NJYC took the lead through Regmi in the 10th minute, while ARA levelled the scores in the 39th minute through Njimi. Both the teams were deadlocked at 1-1 in the regulation period and the match was pushed to extra time. Ebode found the back of the nets in the dying moments of the extra time to make it to the final. The hosts were reduced to 10 men after Yayo was expelled moments before the first half whistle for using foul words. NJYC goalkeeper Rahul Yadav was named the man of the match and he earned Rs 5,000.

On Thursday, Sankata Club will face Nepal APF Club in the second semi-final match.
