Armed Police clinch Junior League title

Lalitpur, April 19:

Armed Police Force (APF) Team clinched the third Nepal Bank ‘A’ Division Junior (U-14) League Football Tournament title with a 2-0 win over Samsung Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) here at the ANFA Complex on Thursday.

Min Prasad Dura scored first goal in the 52nd minute and Shyam Nepali added the other in the 65th minute for the winners. Dinesh Karki of Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) was declared the best forward while Sushil Bista of Machhindra Energizer Club won the best midfielder award. Buddha Lama of APF was adjudged the best defender while Sulabh Maskey of New Road Team (NRT) finished as the top-scorer and his teammate Ajit Prajapati was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament. MMC won the fair play award.

The winners received a cheque of Rs 100,000 while the runners up got Rs 50,000. Likewise, the losing semi-finalists Nabil Three Star Club and NRT were presented with a cheque of Rs 25,000 each.

The tournament was played under league-cum knock out basis with two teams each from both the groups qualifying for the semi-finals. Each group comprised of six teams.
