Army move on top; Three Star triumph
Kathmandu, December 9:
Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) reclaimed the lead in the Martyrs’ Memorial San Miguel ‘A’ Division League with a 2-1 win over Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) while Nabil Three Star Club beat Sankata Club 1-0.
TAC lead with 28 points on better goal difference with Mahendra Police Club, who also have 28 points. Three Star moved to fourth with 22 points and Gyanendra APF (22) are third on better goal. Defending champions Manang Marsyangdi Club have 20 points. RCT (14) and Sankata (8) remained unmoved at sixth and 10th respectively.
At the Dasharath Stadium, Bikarna Shrestha put the Armymen ahead in the 47th minute through a 35-yard shot that sailed into the nets. Shiva Chaudhary put the issue beyond doubt when he scored from close range following Bikarna’s pass in the 90th minute. RCT pulled one back in the next minute through Dipesh Thapa Magar’s stunning right-footed shot from 20 yards.
In the second match, Nigerian Obagbemiro Junior’s seventh-minute goal was enough for Three Star to earn three clear points. Junior headed home following Sanjeeb Budhathoki’s cross inside the penalty area.
