KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 28

Tribhuvan Army Officers Golf Club won the title of the Nepal Tourism Cup Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

The Army Club, represented by the 13th South Asian Games double gold medal winner Subash Tamang and Maj Nischaya Jung Rayamajhi, finished first on count back after being tied on 12- over 300 with overnight leaders Gokarna Golf Club after the second and final round of the 36-hole competition played under stroke play format.

TAOGC, who were two shots behind Gokarna on the first day, carded threeover 148 after Tamang produced the best card of the tournament firing two-under 70 and Maj Nischaya Jung Rayamajhi shot fiveover 77. TAOGC had posted nine-over 153 on the first day with Tamang carding one-over 73 and Rayamajhi scoring eight-over 80.

Home team, Gokarna played five-over 149 in the second round to add to their first day score of seven-over 151. Sadbhav Acharya carded even-par 72, while Tashi Tshiring shot five-over 77.

Tshiring had played twoover 74 and Acharya had shot five-over 77 in the first round yesterday.

Ajit BK and Prajwal Gurung of Himalayan Golf Course came third at 49-over 337, followed by Yubaraj Bhujel and Hitraj Limbu of Dharan Golf Club (340) and Mithun Rai and Suraj Shrestha of Royal Nepal Golf Club (341) in the five-team tournament organised by Nepal Golf Association to mark the World Tourism Day.

The tournament will end on Wednesday with the corporate event. A total of 92 golfers will participate in the social event which will be played under the stableford 3/4 handicap format.

The tournament is supported by Nepal Tourism Board, National Sports Council, Gokarna Forest Resort, Samsung, Kelme, Gorkha Brewery, and Everest Beverage Processing.
