Army set final date with Police
Janakpur, April 27
Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal Police Club advanced to the final of the Deepak Gupta Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament here at the Rangabhumi grounds today.
In the semi-final matches, TAC thrashed Phoenix Cricket Club by nine wickets, while NPC saw off Sonnet Cricket Club by 28 runs.
In the day’s second match, Phoenix were bowled for 52 runs in 16.2 overs before TAC raced to 53-1 in 5.5 overs. Naresh Budhayer scored an unbeaten 13-ball 26 hitting five boundaries and a six, while Sagar Pun added 22 off 18 balls that included three boundaries and a six.
Earlier, Phoenix failed to put up a fighting total as skipper Rajinder Lal was the lone batsman to score in double figures. He hit two fours in his 29-ball 21. TAC’s Sompal Kami, Sagar Pun and Sahab Alam claimed two wickets each.
In another match, NPC scored 147-5 in their allotted 20 overs and packed Sonnet for 119 runs with two balls to spare. Sunil Dhamala scored run-a-ball 37 hitting three boundaries and two sixes, while Dilip Nath scored 32 off 30 balls with the help of two fours in NPC’s fighting total.
In reply, Adesh Kumar top scored for Sonnet with 17-ball 25 with the help of two each fours and sixes. The final match will be played on Saturday.
