Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) came from behind to beat Boys Union Club (BUC) 3-1 in the quarter-finals of the Birthday Cup Football Tournament, here today. BUC took lead in the 43rd minute through Utsab KC, who fired the ball from a tight angle following a pass from Sachindra Dhimal leaving TAC custodian Ful Bahadur Lama stranded. In the 58th minute, Shiva Chaudhary of TAC took a pass from Divas Chaudhary from the left flank to score an equaliser. The 88th minute was a disaster for BUC as the ball, passed by TAC’s Mahendra Khawash, got deflected touching defender Kumar Gurung and went into his own net. In the dying moments, Hari Bahadur Mahato of TAC sealed the victory when he fired the ball from eight yards and made it 3-1.

Boys Union Club, who defeated Friends Club in the inaugural match, missed as many as three easy chances to score. In the 19th minute, in an solo effort, Suman Shrestha ended up with a wide shot. Four minutes later, BUC skipper Bijay Maharjan failed to convert on a free kick which went out hitting the outer edge of the cross bar. Making a short-range powerful attempt, Shiva Chaudhary of TAC ended up with a skier in the 31st minute. Fed by skipper Janamat Karki, Hari Bahadur Mahato of TAC missed a close range powerful shot as the ball was brilliantly gathered by BUC goalkeeper Amir Byanjankar in the 86th minute. Ram Kumar Biswas and Surendra Chaudhary of TAC and BUC skipper Bijay Maharjan were booked during the match. On Saturday, Manang Marsyangdi Club will face RCT in their first match of the tournament.
