Armymen outplay NPC, advance to final

Tribhuvan Army Club advanced to the final of the Mechi Netralaya Kakarvitta Gold Cup Football Tournament here today.
In semi-final match, TAC thrashed departmental rivals Nepal Police Club 3-0 riding on a brace from Dinesh Henjan and a goal from George Prince Karki.
After the goalless first half, Henjan opened the scoring in the 54th minute as he headed home utilising a cross from Dipak Gurung. Henjan doubled the tally in the 64th minute with his second goal. Karki put the issue beyond doubt with the team’s third goal in the 84th after he beat NPC goalie Roshan Khadka in one-on-one situation.
TAC also wasted a couple of goal scoring chances. Skipper Bharat Khawas was denied by NPC defender Dinesh Rajbanshi in one-on-one situation in the 31st minute and muffed up another chance in the 49th minute.
Similarly, NPC should have taken the lead in the first half but Jumanu Rai wasted a sitter in the 24th minute, while Suman Lama hit the woodwork in the 85th minute. Henjan was named the man-of-the-match and he received Rs 10,000. He was also awarded with Rs 3,000 for scoring the opening goal of the match.
The second semi-final match between Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club and hosts Kakarvitta Football Training Centre is slated for Wednesday.
