Arsenal face Liverpool in quarters

Arsenal will face Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals, and Manchester United will play AS Roma for the third time in two years.
Barcelona, one of the title favourites, managed to avoid all four English teams left in the competition and face Germany’s Schalke while Chelsea take on Fenerbahce UEFA also made the provisional semi-final draw. The winner of Arsenal and Liverpool meet either Fenerbahce or Chelsea. Schalke or Barcelona face Roma or Manchester United. It’s the first time that four teams from the same country have made it to the last eight all hoping to make it to the May 21 final in Moscow.
The identities of the two finalists will be known by the end of April. The first legs of the quarter-finals are on April 1-2 with the returns on April 8-9. The first legs of the semi-finals are on April 22-23 with the returns on April 29-30.
LONDON: Rangers lost to Werder Bremen 1-0 and still advanced to the UEFA Cup quarter-finals along with Sporting Lisbon. Rangers advanced 2-1, helped by their 2-0 win at Ibrox last week. Diego scored for Werder Bremen in the 58th minute. Lisbon beat Bolton 1-0 to advance 2-1 on aggregate. Bruno Pereirinha scored for Sporting Lisbon, who had the away goal advantage after their 1-1 first-leg draw. — AP
