Bagmati Province won the team championship of the first National Mayor Cup Taekwondo Tournament here at the NSC covered hall on Saturday. Bagmati earned six gold, two silver and nine bronze medals to finish first.
Lumbini came second with five gold, three silver and four bronze medals, while Tribhuvan Army finished third with five gold, two silver and seven bronze medals.
Sapan Thapa of Lumbini and Swostika Maharjan of Bagmati were declared the best players of the two-day tournament organised by the Bagmati Province Taekwondo Association.
A total of 330 players from 11 teams took part in the tournament that featured 24 events.
Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Bidhya Sundar Shakya and Bagmati Province Taekwondo Association President Keshav Puri among others handed over the prizes to the winners.
