Ballantine's Open Golf on Saturday

Gokarna Forest Resort and Pernod Ricard India Pvt Ltd are organising the Ballantine’s Open Golf Tournament at the Gokarna Golf Club on Saturday.

Around 100 golfers are expected to participate in the one-day tournament to be played under stableford ¾ handicap format over 18 holes, informed Senior Golf Director of Gokarna Golf Club Deepak Acharya at a press conference.

The players will vie for men, women, gross and senior section trophies apart from field prizes including longest drive and closest to the pin.

“Seventy golfers have already confirmed their entries and we are hoping for 30 more by Thursday,” said Acharya. “The tournament will be a different one as unlike other events we will start this competition after noon. As we will have shot gun start, we hope to finish the play before evening,” he added. Acharya also thanked the sponsors for their continuous support. “We hope the event will grow more in the years to come,” he said.

Country Manager of Pernod Ricard, Ravinder Saini said the Ballantine’s Open was able to create buzz in the golfing fraternity. “The tournament has developed craze of golf in the country and we are happy with the number of participants,” said Saini.

“Ballantine’s has international connection with golf as the brand sponsors reputed tournaments worldwide and we are doing our bit in Nepal,” he added. “I would like to thank Gokarna Forest Resort for allowing us to hold the tournament in one of the best courses of the region.”

The organisers said the winners of the tournament would receive attractive prizes including golf equipments.
