Kathmandu, March 18
Arshya Basnyat and Sane Zean Bajgai won the titles of the Gyan Memorial Junior Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club today.
Played under stableford full handicap format, Basnyat accumulated 41 points to win the above-14 boys' section trophy. Abhimanyu Karki came second in the 18-hole competition with 38 points. Bajgai won the girls' category title with 44 points, while Anavdya Malla was runner-up with 41 points.
Sushant Kadal won the 11-13yrs boys' section title with 23 points.
Played over nine holes, Birsan Rai came second with 18 points. Avanie Rai won girls' category trophy with 17 points, while Yashaswi Bhandari was second with 12 points. Aaradhya Tandan won U-10 section totle with 19 points, while Aaroha Neupane finished second with 15 points. Jeams (10) and Dev Jalan (seven) won top two spots respectively in U-7 section.
Aarav Girung won most birdies award with two birdies, while Jaibir Acharya and Ishaan Poudyal bagged the longest drive and closest-to-thepin awards respectively. Menansha Rai and Saimon Shrestha won chipping and putting competition respectively.
A total of 40 golfers took part in the tournament organised by RNGC President Madhukar Yakthumba and his family under the auspices of RNGC Youth Development Committee.
Meanwhile, the organisers felicitated five national team golfers - Subash Tamang, Sadbhav Acharya, Sushma Sigdel, Tara Karki Chitrakar and Kashmira Shah - and team managers Gopal Chitrakar and Arshiya Banu. Tamang and Acharya won team event gold, while Sigdel and Karki bagged bronze medal in the 36th Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship held in Dhaka from March 8-11. Shah participated in the Women's Amateur Asia- Pacific Championship held in Singapore from March 9-12.
