KATHMANDU: Sashwat Bastakoti accumulated 40 points to take lead after the first day of the RNGC 98th Anniversary Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Friday.

Played under stableford ¾ handicap format, the 18-handicap amateur golfer Bastakoti scored 17 points on the front nine before adding 23 on the latter half. Saroj Bastakoti, 16-handicap golfer, scored 39 points to remain at the second position.

He scored 20 and 19 points in the two halves respectively. Roshan Rai was third with 34 points, followed by Mukti Sen Gurung (33) and Binayak Basnyat (33). A total of 25 players completed their rounds on Friday, while another 60 golfers will play on Saturday.
