Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj win

Bhairahawa, May 9:

Region No 4 (Bhairahawa) defeated Region No 2 (Birgunj) by five wickets and Region No 5 (Nepalgunj) beat Region No 1 (Biratnagar) by one wicket in the day’s matches of the Under-17 National Cricket Tournament, here today.

Batting first after winning the toss, Birgunj scored 165 runs losing six wickets in 40 overs,

riding on Hasim Ansari’s 53. Subhash Chhetri sco-red 29 runs, Yasin Hawari made 23 runs, and Arbind Rana scored 18 runs.

For Bhairahawa, Govind Karki and man of the match Shrawan Parajuli claimed two wickets each.

In reply, Bhairahawa overcame the target in 37 over losing five wickets. Sandeep KC top-scored with 40 runs and Saroj Adhikari scored 27 runs. For Birgunj, Deepesh Dutta and Yasin Hawari grabbed one wicket apiece.

In the other match, Biratnagar were bowled out for 160 runs in 28.1 overs. Pushpa Thapa top-scored with 41 runs.

For Nepalgunj, man of the match Shahid Rijal took four wickets and Mohsin Halwai claimed two. In reply, Anupam Singh and Nasir Ansari scored 25 runs each as Nepalgunj overcame the target losing nine wickets in 39.4 overs.

For Biratnagar, Pushpa Thapa took three wic-kets whereas Chandan Shrestha and Iraj Shrestha claimed one wicket apiece.

On Tuesday, Region No 3 (Kathmandu) will take on Region No 5 (Nepalgunj) and Region No 6 (Baitadi) will play against Region No 4 (Bhairahawa).
