Bhaktapur champions

BHAKTAPUR: Bhaktapur clinched two gold and the same number of bronze medals to claim the team championship of the National Youth U-17 Boxing Championships here today.

Laxmi Prasad Duwal and Jayaram Kharbuja earned both the gold medals for Bhaktapur on the final day. Duwal won the men’s 48kg final bout defeating Rajendra Shrestha of Jumla while Kharbuja earned a gold in the men’s 57kg beating Yogesh Gurung of Dhading. Rolpa won a gold and a silver medal to finish runners up. Mohan Khadka gave Rolpa the gold with a win over Praveen of Salyan in the men’s 60kg. Hetauda Boxing Club and Naxal Yuva Mandal also won a gold but the former were given the third position following a lucky draw.

Sajan Shahi Thakuri gave Hetauda the gold with a win over Rohan Pradhan of Ilam in men’s 64kg bout. In men’s 51kg final, Bikram Pariyar of Nepal Youth Boxing Club outplayed Rahul Pradhan of Ilam to claim the title.

Dhirendra Chand of Kanchanpur beat Narendra Deshar of Nepal Youth Boxing Club to win the men’s 54kg gold. In men’s 60kg, Umesh Rijal of Tikathali overcame Dipendra Shrestha of Makwanpur to clinch the gold.
