Bhandari nets dozen as APF rout Mid-west

Lalitpur: Sabitra Bhandari scored record 12 goals as Nepal APF Club thrashed Mid-western Region 26-0 in the Group B match of the 16th National Women’s Football League under the NSC Championship here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.

Apart from Bhandari’s dozen goals, Anita KC netted five and Anjali Yonjan scored four. Rekha Poudel scored a brace, while Anita Basnet netted one for the departmental side against the hapless Mid-western team.

Bhandari opened the scoring in the third minute and completed her hat-trick with goals in the 15th and 17th minutes. The national team striker then scored in the 24th, 34th, 40th, 47th, 52nd, 59th, 60th, 77th and injury time of the match. Bhandari

had scored 10 goals against Western Region in the fourth CoAS International Women’s Football Tournament in 2016.

Similarly, KC scored five goals in the 11th, 16th, 44th, 72nd and 81st minutes while Yonjan netted in the 29th, 39th, 49th and 88th minutes. Likewise, Poudel found the back of the nets in the 65th and 78th minutes, while Basnet added one in the 18th minute.

In another Group B match, Tribhuvan Army Club outplayed Western Region 12-0 riding in Dipa Rai’s five goals. Skipper Krishna Khatri completed a hat-trick, while Indira Rai scored a brace. Puja Rana and Sharmila Thapa also scored one each. Dipa Rai found the back of the nets in the 44th, 63rd, 69th, 78th and 82nd minutes, while skipper Khatri completed her hat-trick scoring in the 27th, 49th and 81st minutes.

Similarly, Indira Rai scored in the 72nd and 75th minutes, while Rana scored in the 36th minute and Thapa netted in the 54th minutes.

On Tuesday, Nepal Police Club will take on Far-western Region, while Eastern Region will face Central Region in Group A matches.
