Bhandari wins second SIRC charity golf tournament

Chuda Bahadur Bhandari won the second SIRC Charity Golf Tournament beating defending champion Tsultrim Lama by a stroke, here at 72-par Gokarna Forest Golf Resort today. The event was organised by Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Centre (SIRC) for the benefit of the spinally injured of Nepal. The event was supported by The Himalayan Times. Playing with one handicap, Bhandari started with a bogey, but showed some excellent golfing skills to end the day at 40 stable ford points. He had two eagles on the third and 12th, birdies in the 7th and 9th and two more bogies in the fourth, and 16th holes.

Last year’s champion Lama, playing with eight handicap, had two birdies — 8th and 13th, both par-3 holes. His total score of 39 stable ford points was marred by seven bogeys — 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 14th and 17th. Adrian Fisler, who finished the day at 32 gross points, won the best gross award, while Turill Rusten won the ladies section title with 32 points and Kalyani Moktan came second with 24 stable ford points. Prem Sachdev won the senior section title on count back, after he was tied with Lt Gen KNS Thapa at 35 points. T Hanya bagged the best sportsmanship award. Dr Singha Bahadur Basnet gave away prizes to the winners. Chairman of SIRC Kanak Dixit, and Marianne Meinecke expressed their views on the occasion. In the putting competition for non-golfers, Milap Dixit and Shyam Rupakheti came first and second respectively in men’s section, while in women’s section, Shanta Dixit and Shradha Thapa claimed the top two spots.
