Sunar bags Sport Climbing National C’ship title

Kathmandu, May 2

Bijay Sunar and Bimala Sunar won the titles of the Suman Bhomjan Memorial Sport Climbing National Championship at the Pasang Lhamu Sport Climbing Centre today.

In men’s Lead Climbing Competition, Bijay Sunar finished first, while Bhim Tamang and Pemba Sherpa came second and third respectively.

In women’s category, Bimala Sunar bagged the gold medal, while Benisha Rajbahak and Swostika Chaudhary claimed silver and bronze respectively. Top three finishers in both sections earned Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.

In Top Rope Competition, Yuvraj Shahi came first in men’s section, while Anup Malla and Siddhartha KC finished second and third respectively. In women’s category, Anita Khatri, Juhi Thapa Magar and Anisha Jirel claimed top three positions respectively. Top three finishers in the category got trophies and certificates. A total of 35 players took part in the section.

Nepal Climbing Sport Association and Pasang Lhamu Academy organised the tournament in memory of sports journalists Suman Bhomjan. The event was supported by Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Sports Council, Nepal Olympic Committee, Mountain Sports Federation and Nepal Sports Journalists Forum.
