Lalitpur, May 26:
Brigade Boys Club (BBC) manager W C Thomson (Billy) is confident that his team will provide stiff competition in the upcoming Birthday Cup Football Tournament, which is slated for June 12 in Kathmandu.
“We played some friendlies with top teams like Three Star Club, Manang Marsyangdi Club, and Armed Police Force in recent days and we deid well,” said Billy at a press meet today. “There is not much difference between the teams and we are capable of giving any team a good fight.”
He also said that the club was training hard for the upcoming Martyrs’ Memorial ‘A’ Division League. “With a couple of new signings, we hope to finish within top six in the league,” said Billy, at a press meet organised by the club today.
The club has added eight new players including two Nigerians — Obagbemiro Junior and Opara Luxson Puma — to the squad. Other new faces in the team are defenders Resham Lama and Mohan Tamang; midfielders Kendra Limbu, Bhupal Gurung and Rajendra Deula; and striker Benjamin Sunuwar.
Billy was unhappy with the limited practice grounds in the valley. Out of the 12 ‘A’ division clubs, only Jawalakhel Youth Club have their own ground, while three departmental teams — Mahendra Police Club, Tribhuvan Army Club and Gyanendra Armed Police Force — have their own facilities.
