KATHMANDU: National football team’s striker Bimal Gharti Magar was appointed brand ambassador of Xtep, China’s leading sportswear brand, which was officially launched here on Thursday.

Xtep’s authorised distributor Rainbow Pvt Ltd signed Gharti Magar as brand ambassador for a year. Rainbow’s Director Ganesh Shrestha and footballer signed the agreement paper during a programme held in Kathmandu.

However, the amount was not disclosed. “Although, Rainbow will provide handsome amount to Gharti Magar, we agreed not to disclose it,” said Shrestha. As per the agreement, footballer Gharti Magar will promote and wear sports gear of Xtep, particularly shoes during his matches.

Gharti Magar was one of the key members when Nepal bagged titles in the SAFF U-19 Championship in Nepal in 2015; Bangabandhu Gold Cup in Bangladesh and 12th South Asian Games’ football in India this year.

“The agreement will be helpful for the development of sports in Nepal,” said Gharti Magar.

Meanwhile, Zhuang Chao Hul, assistant general manager of international market for Xtep, launched the brand in Nepal during the same programme.
