Binod-XI beat Paras-XI

KATHMANDU: Binod-XI today won both the matches against Paras-XI during the selection tournament held for the ACC Twenty20 Cup slated for November 22 to 30 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The 23 players currently undergoing closed camp training formed the two teams. Binod Das lead the one and Paras Khadka skippered the another team.

In the first match, Binod-XI beat Paras-XI by nine wickets. Paras-XI scored 91-8 in 20 overs with skipper Paras contributing the highest 16 runs. Raj Kumar Pradhan was the pick of the Binod-XI bowlers with 3-18 while Mehboob Alam and Basanta Regmi also claimed two wickets each.

Opener Dipendra Chaudhary struck an unbeaten 51 to steer Binod-XI to a comprehensive victory in 14.4 overs. Dipendra scored two sixes and five fours in his 41-ball innings while Gyanendra Malla remained not out on 24. Anil Mandal was the only Binod-XI wicket to fall.

In the second match, Binod-XI made 75-9 and dismissed Paras-XI for 67 runs in 18.4 overs. Dipendra again top scored for Binod-XI with unbeaten 23 off 30 balls. Dipendra came down the order at No 7 this time around. Shakti Gauchan bagged three while Amrit Bhattarai, Paras and Sanjam Regmi claimed one wicket each for Paras-XI.

Chasing a modest 76-run target, Paras-XI were bundled out with eight balls to spare. Anupam Singh topscored for Paras-XI with 17 while Mahesh Chhetri and Rahul Kumar BK chipped in 11 runs each. Skipper Binod and Basanta Regmi took three wickets apiece while Alam, Pramod Basnet, Prem Budal and Raj Kumar Pradhan grabbed one wicket each for Binod-XI.

Nepal are drawn in Group B with Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Malaysia and Bahrain in the Twenty20 Cup. Afghanistan, the UAE, Singapore, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia and China are in Group 'A'. Top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.
