Binod-XI win

KATHMANDU: Binod-XI beat Paras-XI by four wickets to claim the five-match Twenty20 series 4-0 here at the TU Stadium. The matches were played as part of the national team’s selection for the ACC Twenty20 Cup slated for November 22-30 in the UAE.

The two teams were formed from the 23 players currently at the closed camp. Binod Das led the Binod-XI while Paras Khadka captained the Paras-XI. Binod-XI won the four matches while one match on Wednesday ended in a tie.

Batting first, Paras-XI made 110-6 and Binod-XI reached 111-6 in 19.2 overs. Mehboob Alam and Binod Bhandari scored 23 each for Paras-XI. Alam struck four fours and a six in his 16-ball knock while Bhandari hit two sixes in his unbeaten 17-ball innings. Ajay Rajbanshi (17) and Puspa Thapa (11 not out) were the other major contributors. Das and Sanjam Regmi claimed two wickets apiece.

In reply, Binod-XI were in trouble at 13-3 in the fourth over before Sharad Vesawkar and Shakti Gauchan (12) brought their team back in contention with 41-run stand for the fourth wicket. Vesawkar scored 46 off 49, hitting four fours and two sixes. Naresh Budhayer hit two sixes in his unbeaten 23 off 17.
