Birgunj, October 18:

Region No 1 (Biratnagar) and Region No 4 (Bhairahawa) made it the semi-finals of the Sintez MM Twenty20 National Cricket Tournament here today.

Biratnagar defeated Region No 5 (Nepalgunj) by 33 runs and Bhairahawa overcame Region No 2 (Birgunj) by 19 runs to secure the last four berths.

Batting first, Biratnagar made 125-7 with Mehboob Alam scoring 43. Man of the match Alam struck nine fours in his explosive innings. Sandeep Shrestha took three wickets for Nepalgunj.

In reply, Nepalgunj were dismissed for 92 in 16.1 overs. Pandey brothers, Shitanshu and Suvendu, scored 18 and 16 respectively for Nepalgunj. Alam returned to take two wickets for Biratnagar.

In another match, Bhairahawa made 132-7 and restricted Birgunj to 113-7. Man of the match, Aakash Gupta anchored the Bhairahawa’s innings scoring 49 runs that included three sixes and as many fours. Sanjog Karna took three wickets for Birgunj.

In reply, Kumar Prasun top-scored with 26 runs for Birgunj. Prasun hit three sixes and a four. Anil Mandal and Hashim Ansari also contributed 21 runs each. Amrit Bhattarai and Sagar Khadka claimed two wickets each for Bhairahawa.

Biratnagar will meet Bhairahawa and Region No 3 (Kathmandu) will face Region No 6 (Baitadi) on Sunday.
