Biratnagar Kings and Kathmandu Goldens cruise in DPL

DHANGADHI: Biratnagar Kings and Kathmandu Goldens have emerged victorious at the ongoing Sagarmatha Cement Dhangadhi Premier League played at Seti Zone Police Office Ground in Dhangadhi on Tuesday.

Sharad Vesawkar led Biratnagar Kings defeated defending champions Team Chauraha Dhangadhi skippered by National Cricket team captain Paras Khadka by 23 runs.

Similarly, Kathmandu Goldens registered their first win of the tournament by overpowering Kanchanpur Iconic by 24 runs margin.

Earlier, Kathmandu Goldens were beaten by CYC Attariya by 40 runs.

Khadka invited Vesawakar team to bat first, Biratnagar Kings posted a modest total of 135 for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs game.

Skipper Vesawakar smashed 46 runs, Anil Shah made 28 runs and Pranit Thapa contributed 21 runs and Amit Shrestha chipped in with 19 runs for the team.

Team Chauraha Dhangadhi bowlers Lalit Rajbanshi, Aarif Sheikh, Ramnaresh Giri and Sushan Bhari picked a wicket each.

In reply, Team Chauraha Dhangadhi were folded for a mere 111 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Amar Raitaula top scored with 26 runs, Anil Mandal made 24 runs and Raju Rijal hit 13 runs but none of the batsmen could take them team home.

Skipper Khadka who warmed up for the tournament with a fine half century during the charity match managed to score only 2 runs.

Sarad Vesawakar made a day for himself by picking up three scalps. Sushil Kandel also took three wickets in their team's victory.

Jitendra Mukhiya took 2 wickets as Dipendra Airee also claimed a wicket.

Sarad Vesawakar was awarded Man-of-the-Match for his overall performance in team's victory.

In other game, Kanchanpur Iconic invited Kathmandu Goldens to bat first, posted 147 on the board for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Bhuwan Karki played a blinder as smashed 36 runs to post a decent total on the board. Captain Basanta Regmi hit 14 runs, Subendra Pandey made 19 runs and Manjeet Shrestha contributed 16 runs.

Avinash Karna was pick of the Kanchanpur Iconic bowler with three scalps to his name.

In other game, Kanchanpur Iconic invited Kathmandu Goldens to bat first, posted 147 on the board for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Bhuwan Karki played a blinder as smashed 36 runs to post a decent total on the board. Captain Basanta Regmi hit 14 runs, Subendra Pandey made 19 runs and Manjeet Shrestha contributed 16 runs.

Avinash Karna was pick of the Kanchanpur Iconic bowler with three scalps to his name.

In reply, Kanchanpur Iconic were bowled out for 123 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs and lost the game by 24 runs. Earlier, they had lost to Rupandehi Challengers by 14 runs. However, opener Sagar Pun resurrected his batting and top scored with 40 runs and Sunil Dhamala managed to hit 14 runs.

Despite their improved opening batting performance middle  order and lower order batsmen failed to capitalise the start and collapsed in their run chase dramatically.

Hasim Ansari made 18 runs and Avinash Karn contributed 13 runs but to no avail. Skipper Basanta Regmi and Santosh Bhatta took 2 wickets each. Manjeet and Sandeep Shrestha took a wicket each.

Bhuwan karki was adjedged the Man-of-the-Match.

With today's win Kathmandu Goldens have opened their account in the points table.

In tomorrow's game CYC Attariya will take on Rupandehi Challengers in first game and Biratnagar Kings will play against Kathmandu Goldens in second fixture.
