Bista off to S Korea

KATHMANDU: Record setting Nepali taekwondo star Deepak Bista left for Seoul today.

Bista left for the South Korean capital in an invitation from a group of Nepali residing there. The group is scheduled to felicitate the taekwondo ace on Sunday for his remarkable achievement in the South Asian Games. Bista became the first player in the regional games when he won unprecedented four successive gold medals at the 11th South Asian Games in Dhaka from January 29 to February 9.

Member Secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC) Hari Babu Chaudhary, Vice-president Pitamber Timilsina, acting treasurer Min Krishna Maharjan among others bade farewell to Bista here today.

Ayesha feted

KATHMANDU: Crimson International College felicitated the 11th South Asian Games taekwondo gold medallist Ayesha Shakaya here on Friday. Shakya was feted with a cash reward of Rs 11,000 by the college where she is a student. Of the total eight gold, nine silver and 20 bronze medals, Nepal had won in Dhaka, taekwondo claimed two gold, two silver and as many bronze medals.
