Kathmandu, July 6:

Mahesh Bista, president of Friends Club, has been ousted by the general assembly of the club, which formed a seven-member ad hoc committee under the convenorship of Lalit Bhakta Upadhyay to hold elections within six months. “The special assembly decided to kick out Bista, who had been the boss of the club for the last 10 years,” said Bishwaraj Shrestha.

“The main reason of the reshuffle was the club’s lackluster performance in the recently held Birthday Cup Football Tournament,” he said. Friends Club, the defending champions of the Chitwan-edition, were upset by Boys Union Club in the inaugural match. The other members of the committee are Ram Sharan Chhetry, Sushil KC, Dwarika Shrestha, Birendra Pok-hrel and Bigyan Sharma.

However, Bista claimed that he quit by himself and alleged the members of not holding the general assembly properly. “I ran the club for 10 years and now I don’t get time to involve as an active member, said Bista, who is also the senior vice president of ANFA.
