BN Sporting shoot Dharan FC out
Pokhara, January 30:
BN Sporting Club of Bangladesh defeated Dharan Football Club 4-2 in tie breaker to advance to the quarter-finals of the seventh Aaha Gold Cup Football Tournament here at the Pokhara Stadium today.
The match went to tie breaker after both the teams scored one goal each in the added 30 minutes after a 2-2 draw in the normal time. Arif, Elmajir, Samim and Afsal scored for BN Sporting, while Charles Rai and Surya Sunar converted their spot kicks for Dharan.
Jalil failed to convert the first spot kick for the Bangladeshi team, while Buddha Chemjong and Laxmi Shrestha wasted their kicks. The visitors will now face Sahara UK, who arrived Kathmandu today, on February 3.
The Bangladeshi team was reduced to nine men after skipper Manik and Govindo both received double yellow cards. Referee Sudish Pandey also cautioned other five players during the match.
Earlier, Amar Subba put Dharan FC ahead in the 38th minute but the Bangladeshi team took lead through goals from Appal and Tutul. Buddha Chemjong scored the equaliser.
In the extra time, Chemjong and Hasan scored as the match went towards the penalty shootout. Sudip Limbu of Dharan was named the man of the match. On Saturday, hosts Sahara Club will take on Belgharia Sporting club.
