Bodybuilders to take part in World Championship

Lalitpur, October 2

A six-member Nepali bodybuilding team on Monday left for Mongolia to take part in the ninth WBPF World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship slated for October 3-9 in Ulaanbaatar.

Bodybuilders Rujesh Shahi, Kamal Bhandari and Nanita Maharjan will compete in the events. Nepal Bodybuilding and Fitness Association Vice-president Dinesh Rajbhandari is the team leader, while official Rudan Bajracharya and judge Ishworman Shrestha also accompanied the players to Mongolia.

Shahi, who won silver medal in the seventh edition of the championship in Thailand two years ago, will participate in the 60kg weight category, while Bhandari — bronze medallist of the 51st Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship held in South Korea in August — will compete in the 55kg weight category. Similarly, Maharjan — the first Nepali women bodybuilder to win international medal when she claimed bronze in the eighth edition of the world championship in Thailand last year — will take part in the 165cm category of the physique section.
