KATHMANDU: A nine-member boxing team is on Thursday leaving for India to prepare for the AIBA World Women's Boxing Championship.

Seven Nepali boxers -- Sushma Tamang (48kg), Asmita Duwal (50kg), Anjali Teli (52kg), Minu Gurung (54kg), Chandra Kala Thapa (57kg), Sangita Sunar (60kg) and Saraswati Rana (70kg) - will train at the Punjab Institute of Sports from February 23 to March 13.

After the training, the boxers will participate in the world championship in New Delhi from March 13-27. Coaches Prakash Thapa Magar and Anuradha Lama will accompany the players to India.

National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising and Nepal Boxing Association President Ram Awale bade farewell to the team on Wednesday.
