Chitrakar feted

KATHMANDU: Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) honoured Shyam Chitrakar, a veteran sports journalist, on Tuesday. President of International Sports Press Association (AIPS) Gianni Merlo, who was here to attend the NSJF LG Player of the Year Awards Ceremony, and NSJF President Niranjan Rajbanshi felicitated Chitrakar. Speaking on the occasion, Merlo praised the awards ceremony. “The programme was a success and you must be proud in what you have done,” he said. “It was more than pleasure to be in Nepal,” he added. NSJF president Rajbanshi and general secretary Hemanta Raj Kafle presented the token of love to Merlo. — HNS

Bhaktapur win

POKHARA: Rupesh Dhaubanjar scored a hat-trick as Bhaktapur Municipality annihilated Prithivi Narayan 7-1 and Byas Municipality beat Dhankuta 2-0 in the third Inter-municipality Football Tournament here. Ishwori Chauguthi, Indra Prasad Rajlawat, Makar Dhoj Gurung and Raghu Prajapati also scored for Bhaktapur. Bipin Silwal netted a goal for Prithivi Narayan. Suresh Shrestha and Amar Kandel scored for Byas. Meanwhile, Rio Speed drink of Chaudhary Group sponsored the Lalitpur Sub-metropolitan City team taking part in the tournament. — HNS

MMC’s help

KATHMANDU: Carlsberg Manang Marsyangdi Club collected Rs 350,000 and clothes from various parts of Kathmandu in their bid to support flood-hit people of Tarai region. Executive members and volunteers of the club have gone to Mohattari to distribute the clothes, foods and medicines that they bought from the money collected in Kathmandu. — HNS
