Danfe Cricket Club advance
BIRATNAGAR: Danfe Cricket Club entered the second round after defeating Sangrila Cricket Club by four wickets in the Chandra Khaki Memorial Cricket Tournament jointly organised by Nepal Cricket Fan Club and The Touch Stone Club. Batting first, Sangrila were all out for 111 in 26 overs. Man of the match Amar Singh bagged six wickets for Danfe. Danfe chased the total in 23.1 overs losing six wickets. Manoj Aryal scored 44 and Abhisek Jha 39 runs for the winners. — HNS
Suvendra Memorial Cricket
BANEPA: Mero Nepal Ma Nepali of Kalimati beat the hosts Kavre Cricket Association (KCA) by 46 runs in the first Suvendra Memorial Open Cricket Tournament on Tuesday. Batting first, the Kalimati team was bowled out for 157 runs 29.2 overs, riding on skipper Suman Uday’s 42 runs. In reply, KCA were all out for 111 runs. — HNS
New Zealand, Lanka tie series
Hamilton: Sanath Jayasuriya became the most-capped player in the history of limited-overs cricket although the fifth one-day match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka was abandoned because of rain. Jayasuriya, 37, was credited with his 375th one-day appearance despite the abandonment, moving clear of India’s Sachin Tendulkar. The abandonment left the series tied 2-2. Earlier, their two-Test series was tied 1-1 and a two-match Twenty/20 series was also shared. — AP
