Budhanilkantha make it to quarter-finals
Kathmandu, June 9:
Rahul Malla scored a hat-trick as Budhanilkantha School hammered Dhapakhel School 6-0 to make it to the Group G quarter-finals at the selection tournament for the Coca-Cola Inter-school National Football Tournament here today.
Malla opened his scoring in the 25th and added two more in the 53rd and 64th minute. Abhishek Thapa who scored two goals, had provided Budhanilkantha the lead in the 18th minute. Thapa added second goal in the 49th, two minutes after Subhash Kunwar scored the team’s third goal.
Vaishnavi School, Arunodaya School, Paropakar School and Zennith Academy also advanced to the Group H quarter-finals after today’s matches. Dinesh Thapa (43, 54, 68) and Krishna Gurung (50, 63, 67) each scored a hattrick as Vaishnavi crushed Global Secondary School 8-0. Suman Bhandari (20) and Subin Pariyar also added one goal apiece for Vaishnavi.
Som Bahadur Syangten scored a brace and Santosh Rai added one goal as Arunodaya edged out Nepal Adarsha Secondary School 3-0. Paropakar sneaked past Jupiter Secondary School 5-4 in tiebreaker after a goalless draw in normal time. Likewise, Zennith overcame Radiant Reader Academy 4-0 with Santosh Basnet netting twice and David Bhandari and Bikram Basnet scoring one goal each.
On Tuesday, it’s: Mount Glory vs Pawan Prakriti, Nepal Rastriya Higher Secondary School vs Nandi School, Bhaktapur Secondary vs Universal Prepatory, and Birendra Sainik Awashiya Madhyamik Vidhyalaya vs Santi Sikchhya.
