Budhanilkantha, Triton advance

Kathmandu, December 17:

Triton College and hosts Budhanilkantha ‘B’ qualified for the quarter-finals of the second Aaditya Memorial Inter-college Twenty20 Cricket Tournament here at the Tundikhel grounds today.

Indra Kamal Manandhar and Ritesh Singh hammered explosive half centuries to guide Triton to a massive 110-run victory over SOS while Budhanilkantha defeated Kathmandu Academy by 21 runs.

Batting first, Triton were reeling at 30-4 in the seventh over before Manandhar and Singh combined for a 133-runs stand for the fifth wicket. Manandhar made 68 off 39 balls with seven fours and three sixes while Singh remained unbeaten on 67. Man of the match Singh struck 12 fours in his 38-ball knock. Subrat Sapkota and Sujan Dhoju took two wickets each for SOS.

In reply, Subrat fought a lonely battle for SOS with run-a-ball 34 as only Aashish Bhandari (13) scored in double figures. Bijay Gautam was pick of the Triton bowlers with 3-8. Sanjeet Sah, Keshav Yadav, Ritesh, Indra Kamal and Mukesh Jha also picked up one wicket each.

In the other match, Budhanilkantha scored 111-9 and restricted Kathmandu Academy to 90-9 in 18 overs. Vinit Shrestha top scored with 33-ball 31 while Ayush Kattel and Ashrut Sharma made 11 runs each for Budhanilkantha. Shreyam Gyawali took three and Lokesh Regmi two wickets for Kathmandu Academy. Satish Pandey, Choote Lal Shah and Brijesh Barma also bagged one wicket each.

Neupane contributed 20 from 36 balls as Kathmandu Academy fell 22 runs short of

their victory target. Man of the match Sameep and Utsav Dhakal claimed three wickets each for Budhanilkantha.
