Bungtang defeat Glacier, advance to semi-finals

Kathmandu, November 2

Bungtang Volleyball Team of Nuwakot advanced to the semi-finals of the PABSON U-18 National Volleyball Tournament here at the Dhorpatan Sports Training Centre courts today.

In the boys’ section quarter-final match, Bungtang came from a set down to defeat Glacier College of Koteshwor 3-2. Glacier won the first set 25-23 before Bungtang bounced back strongly registering a 25-9 victory.

Glacier restored the lead with a 25-23 win in the third set before Bungtang claimed the last two sets to win the match. Bungtang won 25-23, 15-13 in the final two sets. Aashish Magar of Bungtang was named the man of the match.

Little Buddha Academy of Kanchanpur, Springdale Academy of Bhaktapur, Dhorpatan Sports Club and Newton High School made it to the quarter-finals. Little Buddha defeated Kavre School Volleyball Commission 25-13, 25-19, Springdale registered a 25-17, 25-15 victory over Sailung Ghyang Youth Club of Dolakha, Dhorpatan beat Aruni School 25-16, 25-23, and Newton earned a 25-18, 25-13 win against Surkhet Volleyball Association.

In girls’ section, Shreegaun Sports Development Committee, Tops School, Dhorpatan Sports Club and Everest School entered the quarter-finals. Shreegaun defeated Kavre School Volleyball Commission 25-16, 25-9, while Tops outplayed Bindhyabasini School 25-18, 25-14. Likewise, Dhorpatan thrashed MAF 25-8, 25-8, whereas Everest School earned a walkover win from Glacier College.
