KATHMANDU, MAY 14

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) bid farewell to Nepal's national men's cricket team, which is set to participate in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 Championship in Scotland, during a special function held at CAN's headquarters in Mulpani, Kathmandu, on Wednesday.

Speaking at the event, CAN Secretary Paras Khadka informed that the team will travel to the United Kingdom ahead of the League 2 matches in Scotland to play practice games with local teams and acclimatize to English conditions. "We know the conditions in Scotland can be challenging, especially for visiting teams," he said. Khadka also assured the association's full support and encouraged the players to perform to their potential and bring joy to Nepali fans.

Echoing Khadka's sentiments, vice-captain Dipendra Singh Airee stated, "The team is well-prepared, and we will give our best to win matches in Scotland."

Assistant coach Gyanendra Malla mentioned that the newly appointed head coach, Stuart Law, is already in the UK for personal reasons and will join the team upon their arrival. "He has spent a considerable amount of time in the UK and has experience coaching county teams, which will be advantageous for us in adapting to the conditions," Malla shared.

CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand extended his best wishes to the team for a successful campaign and a pleasant stay in Scotland.

In the eight-team ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2, Nepal currently sits second from the bottom-just above the UAE-with six points from 12 matches.
