CAN felicitates ‘best’ cricketers
Kathmandu, September 6:
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and Chaudhary Group today honoured three ‘best’ cricketers who earned name and fame in international sector.
National team allrounder Mehboob Alam, U-19 skipper Paras Khadka and Women national team captain Nary Thapa were awarded for their achievements in the international cricket. Mehboob single-handedly bowled out Mozambique in the World Cricket League Division V Tournament in Jersey last year, while Paras and Nary won the Emerging Asian Cricketer of the Year 2007 from Asian Cricket Council.
CAN provided Mehboob with a cash award of Rs 50,000, and Paras and Nary with Rs 10,000 each.
Chaudhary Group’s Wai Wai — the chief sponsors of the Under-19 and women’s national tournaments — provided Rs 25,000 each to Nary and Paras. Nary guided the national team to the first ACC Women’s Cricket Tournament final in Malaysia, while Paras led the Nepali team to the ACC U-19 Elite Cup. Paras was also the skipper of the team that reached the ICC U-19 World Cup plate championship final on 2007.
