KATHMANDU: Sashi Dutta Pandey, secretary of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), died here on Saturday.
Pandey, 52, was suffering from jaundice and succumbed to the illness while undergoing treatment at hospital. He is survived by a wife and two children — a son and a daughter. His final rites will be performed on Monday after the arrival of his son, Sudhir, from the US. His body has been kept at the TU Teaching Hospital at Maharajgunj.
Dutta has served the CAN for 22 years in different capacities. He was nominated as the CAN secretary three years earlier. He entered the association after being nominated as the member some 22 years earlier. Pandey served the CAN as treasurer for 15 years in between. He was also one of the founders of Gairidhara Cricket Club.
Pandey is one of the five Nepali officials to get the ICC Centenary Award last month.
