CAS to judge ACL case

LAUSANNE: Sport’s highest court will judge an urgent appeal which could change the Asian Champions League final lineup over an ineligible player. The Court of Arbitration for Sport says Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal want to overturn their loss to Al Ahli in the second leg of their semi-final. Al Hilal claim they should be rewarded a 3-0 win by default because Al Ahli forward Ossama Al-Saidi was not properly registered. Al-Saidi appeared as a second-half substitute in Al Ahli’s 3-2 win on October 20, which secured a 4-3 aggregate win. Al Ahli are scheduled to host Guangzhou Evergrande in the first leg of the final on November 7. CAS says it expects to give a verdict by next Tuesday. Al Hilal went to CAS after the Asian Football Confederation dismissed their appeal.
