CCRC thrash IoE; Saipal triumph

Kathmandu, May 1

Capital College and Research Centre (CCRC) and Saipal Academy registered huge victories on the second day of the Expert College Premier League here at TU Stadium today.

CCRC defeated Institute of Engineering (IoE) by 78 runs, while Saipal beat Kathmandu Model College (KMC) by 74 runs. Batting first, the star-studded CCRC scored a mammoth 183-6 in 20 overs and restricted IoE to a paltry 92-8 in 20 overs. Man-of-the-match Anil Mandal scored an unbeaten 55 off 44 balls, while Gyanendra Malla and Binod Bhandari scored 29 runs each. Dipendra Airee made 21, while Siddhant Lohani scored a quick fire 19 off just nine balls. Anil Bartaula claimed two wickets for IoE, while Sumant Sah, Aastik Sharma and Sumit Jha took one each.

In reply, CCRC bowlers led by star spinner Basant Regmi took control of the match. Bibek Koirala top scored for IoE with 24 off 35 balls, while Sumant Sah made 20 off 30 deliveries. Regmi claimed three wickets, while Mehboob Alam, Prem Tamang and Anil Mandal pocketed one each for CCRC.

In another match, Saipal piled up 203-4 in 20 overs after electing to bat first, while KMC managed just 129-8. Man-of-the-match Sanjay Basnet scored an unbeaten 62 off 34 balls with the help of eight fours and a six, while Sumit Maharjan made a quick fire 29 off just 16 balls that included three fours and a six. Prashanna Shakya struck a four and three sixes in his fiery 10-ball 27. Navneet Pokhrel, Pawan Shrestha and Bimal Sapkota claimed a wicket each for KMC.

In reply, KMC were never in the chase. Pravin Shakya top scored for KMC with 26 off 20 balls, while Milan Thapa made 20 off 31 balls. Lokendra Chand claimed two wickets, while Srijan Subedi, Ishan Pandey, Sumit Maharjan, Prashanna Shakya and Bijay Gautam grabbed a wicket apiece for Saipal.
