Chand elected NRSF president

Kathmandu, May 9:

The first national convention of Nepal Republican Sports Federation (NRSF) unanimously elected a 33-member central executive committee here today.

Jayandra Chand was elected as the president while Rana Sangram Bista, Bidhan Rai and Kiran Rai were given the responsibility of vice-presidents. Sriman Thapa was elected as the general secretary. Former president Dhruba Bikram Malla was a noticeable omission from the committee. “It was my decision to opt out of the committee,” said Malla, who recently had health problems. “My absence will make no difference as I will remain behind the curtain,” added Malla who played a mojar role in establishing the NRSF.

Bimala Poudel and Mohan Krishna Shrestha were entrusted with the posts of secretary and treasurer respectively. Santa Rayamajhi (Mechi), Kiran Giri (Koshi), Deepak Gosai (Bheri), Prithivi Thapa (Lumbini), Suwarna Shrestha (Rapti), Nara Bahadur Pun (Gandaki), Bramha Mahat (Karnali), Bharat Hamal (Seti), Surendra Shrestha (Narayani), Sanjay Pariyar (Sagarmatha), Karna Pradhan (Dhaulagiri), Niranjan Thapa (Mahakali), along with Resham Lama, Ram Blon, Deepak Thapa, Ram Krishna Baniya, Krishna Kampara and Prem Nath Shrestha from Bagmati were elected as the members.

Other elected as the executive members include Jit Bahadur KC, Gopal Shrestha, Mahesh Maharjan, Hukum Giri, Shiva Khadka, Janaki Chand, Padma Chaudhary and Rishi Thapa.
